Windsurf
Windsurf, the AI code editor, has been called Devin Desktop since Jun 2, 2026, when its owner Cognition renamed it. windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai; the plans are Free, Pro at $20 a month, Max at $200, and Teams at $80 a month plus $40 a seat.
Windsurf is now Devin Desktop: Cognition, which bought the Windsurf editor in Jul 2025, renamed it on Jun 2, 2026, and windsurf.com redirects to devin.ai/desktop. Existing users got the change as an ordinary update, with their plan, price, settings and extensions unchanged. As of Nov 6, 2026 it has a free plan, Pro at $20 a month and Max at $200, and its own coding model is SWE-2.
It suits developers who want one editor that manages several agents at once, local and in Cognition's cloud, including other companies' agents. Pick Cursor for the most established agent-first editor, GitHub Copilot for a $10 assistant inside your current editor and GitHub, or Claude Code or Codex for a terminal agent. See Best AI Coding Agent; Cognition's cloud agent has its own page, Devin.

What changed when Windsurf became Devin Desktop
Cognition's Jun 2, 2026 post made an Agent Command Center (Spaces and a Kanban view of running agents) the main screen, with the editor still there. Devin Local replaced Cascade, Windsurf's agent, as the local agent: Cognition rewrote it in Rust and says it is up to 30% more token efficient and supports subagents. Cascade stayed available until Jul 1, 2026. Devin Desktop also speaks the open Agent Client Protocol, so Codex, Claude's agent, OpenCode and other compatible agents run in the same view.
Features
Local and cloud sessions. Start a task on your machine or in Devin Cloud and move it between the two with the same context. In Cognition's Apr 17, 2026 video, a plan made locally was pasted into a new cloud session and handed to Devin, which later opened the pull request.
Fusion. A lead frontier model plans while a cheaper "sidekick" model does the work; the product page shows Claude Fable 5.1 leading SWE-2.
Devin Review. Built-in review of the agent's diffs; Cognition announced Devin Review 2.0 on Nov 5, 2026.
Tab and Supercomplete. Completions that predict your next edit, unlimited even on the free plan.
DeepWiki and Codemaps. Command+Shift+click on a function, class or variable explains what it does and how it fits the codebase, and one click sends the explanation to the agent; Codemaps answers a question such as how authentication works with a clickable map of the code, which can be shared by link (Cognition's Jun 5, 2026 tour).
Integrations. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Linear, Notion, Atlassian, Datadog, Sentry, Figma, Vercel and Stripe.
