Jules
Jules is Google's asynchronous coding agent for GitHub repositories, and Google is shutting it down: sessions must finish by Nov 11, 2026, it is read-only after that, and it winds down on Dec 31, 2026, with Google pointing to Google Antigravity.
Jules is Google's asynchronous coding agent: you connect a GitHub repository, describe a task, and Jules works on it in a cloud virtual machine and opens a pull request. Google announced on Oct 29, 2026 that Jules will wind down on Dec 31, 2026. Users have until Nov 11, 2026 to finish sessions; after that Jules is read-only until the end of the year. Google says the lessons from Jules are going into its agent-first platform, Google Antigravity.
So in Nov 2026 Jules is only worth opening to finish work and export your settings and history. For new work, Google's own route is Antigravity. Other cloud agents that take a task and return a pull request are Codex from OpenAI, Devin from Cognition, GitHub Copilot's coding agent and Claude Code on the web.

Is Jules shutting down?
Yes. The Jules changelog entry of Oct 29, 2026, titled "Jules Turndown", gives three dates:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Nov 11, 2026 | Last day to finish sessions |
| Nov 12 to Dec 31, 2026 | Jules is read-only |
| Dec 31, 2026 | Jules winds down |
Google gives consolidating its agentic coding work as the reason. Your code, branches and pull requests stay in GitHub. The entry does not mention refunds or changes to Google AI plans, which include much more than Jules.
How to export from Jules
Jules can export its settings, environment variables, scheduled tasks, connected repositories, memories, setup scripts and full session history (prompts, plans, logs and code patches). The changelog's steps: install Jules Tools with npm install -g @google/jules, run jules login, then run Google's export prompt from a command-line coding agent; the export lands in a folder in your home directory (Google). That folder holds your environment variables in plain text, so keep it private.
Plans and limits
| Plan | Tasks a day | Tasks at once | Included with |

| Jules in Ultra | 300 | 60 | Google AI Ultra |
Source: Jules usage limits, read Nov 6, 2026; days are a rolling 24 hours. That page still names older default models; the changelog is newer and says Gemini 3 Flash became the default for every tier on Jan 30, 2026, and Gemini 3.1 Pro the default for Pro on Mar 9, 2026.
Features
Asynchronous tasks. Jules clones the repository into a cloud VM, writes a plan for you to approve, makes the change, runs it, and opens a pull request, so you can leave it working (Google).
Jules Tools and API. A command-line companion, Jules Tools, arrived Oct 2, 2025, and a REST API gained sessions without a repository and git patch output on Jan 26, 2026.
Suggested and scheduled tasks. Since Dec 10, 2025 Jules scans a repository for TODOs and proposes work, and scheduled tasks can be paused and edited (changelog).
CI Fixer and MCP. Since Feb 2026 Jules fixes failing CI checks on its own pull requests and connects to MCP servers, starting with Linear, Supabase, Neon and others (changelog).
