Synthesia
Synthesia is a London AI video company whose app turns a script into a video read by an AI avatar, in 140 or more languages, for business training and communication. It has a free plan with 10 minutes of video and a watermark, and paid plans cost $19 or $89 a month ($14 or $59 billed yearly) as of Nov 6, 2026.
Synthesia is an AI video platform for businesses that turns a script, document or slide deck into a video presented by a realistic AI avatar, in 140 or more languages and voices. As of Nov 6, 2026 it has a free Basic plan with 10 minutes of video a month, 9 avatars and a watermark, and paid plans at $19 a month for Starter and $89 for Pro ($14 and $59 billed yearly), plus custom Enterprise pricing. The company, founded in 2017 and based in London, says it has more than 2 million users, and Forbes put its value at $4 billion in Apr 2026.
Synthesia is built for training, onboarding, internal updates and sales videos where a company needs control: brand kits, SSO, SCORM export for learning systems and interactive sessions with avatars. For creators, translation of existing videos or a cheaper start with a custom avatar of yourself, HeyGen is its closest rival; for cinematic clips without a presenter, use a generator such as Google Flow, Kling or Runway. Best AI Video Generator covers both kinds.

Each plan includes 10 minutes a month; unused minutes do not roll over, and extra credits last 12 months. When you run out, video creation pauses until renewal unless you buy more.
Features
AI avatars. You pick a stock avatar or make a personal one of yourself (paid plans), type or paste a script, and Synthesia renders the presenter speaking it. Synthesia's other tools include an AI screen recorder, AI motion graphics and an AI video assistant on paid plans (Synthesia).
Dubbing and translation. Synthesia translates and dubs existing videos into 70 or more languages on the self-serve plans, with optional lip sync (Synthesia).
Sessions: roleplay, surveys and interactive avatars. Avatars can hold conversations to coach, interview or quiz people; roleplay sessions are capped at 10 a month on the self-serve plans and 25 on Enterprise, and survey responses cost 350 credits each after 3 free a month.
Syren and ChatGPT. Syren is Synthesia's AI video agent that builds motion graphics, avatars and voiceover from a prompt or document, and a plugin lets you make and refine Synthesia videos inside ChatGPT (Synthesia press).
Company controls. Enterprise adds SAML and SSO, SCORM export for learning management systems, brand kits and a dedicated success manager.
Synthesia vs the alternatives
HeyGen is the closest rival: its free plan makes 3 watermarked videos a month, Creator costs $29 a month with a custom avatar and video translation into 175 or more languages, and its Avatar V model builds your avatar from about 15 seconds of phone video. Pick HeyGen for creators and translating existing videos; pick Synthesia for structured company training with SCORM and interactive sessions.
ElevenLabs fits if you need only a voiceover or dubbed audio, not an on-screen presenter.
Descript suits editing real recordings of real people, with AI cleanup.
Google Flow, Runway and Kling make cinematic generated footage rather than presenter videos.
