3:00 Alexa+ is Amazon's new Alexa, rebuilt on large language models so it holds a conversation and gets things done: books tables, orders groceries, controls the smart home and remembers what you tell it. It is free with Amazon Prime and $19.99 a month without it in the US, and works on Echo devices, Fire TV, the Alexa app for iPhone and Android, the Amazon Music app and the web at Alexa.com. Amazon says it is available to all customers in the US and Canada (page updated Jul 21, 2026), and by Nov 6, 2026 it had launched in 13 countries, Japan the latest on Oct 29, 2026.

Alexa+ is the best fit for a home full of Echo speakers and smart devices, and for Prime members, who pay nothing extra. For research, writing or coding it is not the tool: ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude are far more capable there. On an iPhone, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI work with your own apps; on Android, Gemini; on Samsung phones, Galaxy AI.

Amazon launched Alexa+ in the US first, then abroad through 2026, per its international launch post (updated Oct 28, 2026): Mexico on Jan 22, the UK on Mar 19, Italy on Apr 15, Spain on Apr 23, Germany and Austria on May 7, France on May 26, Canada fully on Jun 11, Brazil on Jun 18, Australia on Aug 6, India on Sep 16 and Japan on Oct 29, 2026. Feature availability varies by country.

Features

4:11 Gets things done. Amazon says Alexa+ can coordinate tens of thousands of services and devices: reservations through OpenTable and appointments through Vagaro, groceries from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, food delivery from Grubhub and Uber Eats, and ticket alerts from Ticketmaster.

3:34 Smart home. Control lights, robot vacuums and other devices (Philips Hue and Roborock are named) in plain sentences, with proactive alerts such as traffic warnings. Amazon's newest Echo devices add an interactive 3D Alexa Home Map of the home (Amazon).

4:36 Memory and documents. Alexa+ remembers preferences you share, and learns from documents and emails you send it, so it can answer questions about a school schedule or a lease.

Shopping. Alexa for Shopping tracks price history and finds deals.

Music, podcasts and personality. Plays from Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Music and iHeartRadio, makes short AI podcast episodes on any topic, and offers four personality styles: Brief, Chill, Sweet and Sassy.

2:16 Beyond the speaker. The same Alexa+ works in the Alexa app, on Fire TV and in a web browser at Alexa.com, so you can type to it or carry on a conversation started at home.

Devices

Alexa+ works on Echo devices, Fire TV and the mobile app. Amazon's latest lineup includes the Echo Dot at $99.99, Echo Studio from $219.99, Echo Time at $199.99 and Echo Show 16 from $499.99, and some features of these devices require Alexa+.
