Adobe Firefly
Adobe Firefly is Adobe's AI app for images, video and audio, with its own Firefly models (trained, Adobe says, on licensed and public domain content) and partner models from Google, OpenAI and others. It has free daily generations, and paid plans start at $9.99 a month.
Adobe Firefly is Adobe's generative AI app and model family for images, video and audio, on the web, iOS and Android and inside Photoshop, Premiere and Express; it mixes Adobe's own models, led by Firefly Image 5, with partner models such as Google's Nano Banana, OpenAI's GPT Image, Flux, Runway and Kling, and plans run from $9.99 to $199.99 a month, with free daily generations and no plan needed (as of Nov 6, 2026). Adobe's pitch is safety for business: it says its own Firefly models are trained on licensed content such as Adobe Stock and on public domain works, never on customer content, and it offers enterprise customers IP indemnification.
Pick Firefly if you already work in Photoshop or Premiere, want one subscription that covers several companies' models, or need Adobe's statements about training data and indemnity for client work. Pick something else for the top blind-vote results in a cheaper free app (GPT Image in ChatGPT, Nano Banana in Gemini), a distinctive art style (Midjourney), or models you can run yourself (Flux, Stable Diffusion). The Best AI Image Generator guide compares them.

Source: Adobe Firefly plans, US prices, read Nov 6, 2026; the paid plans offer a free trial. Adobe says the free daily allowance refreshes each day but does not state it as a number. Partner models and premium features such as video and speech spend generative credits, while standard image features like Generative Fill do not count against them on paid plans. Creative Cloud plans include credits too; see AI Subscription Prices.
Features
Firefly Image 5 and editing. Firefly's default image model generates from text and powers Adobe's editing tools, such as Generative Fill and Generative Expand in Photoshop, which add or extend content in a selected area of a real photo. This tight link to Photoshop layers and selections is what separates Firefly from chat-based rivals.
Partner models in one place. The Firefly app lists Gemini 3.1 with Nano Banana 2, GPT Image 1.5 and FLUX.2 pro beside Adobe's own image model, and video models from Runway, Kling, Luma and Topaz. The app labels Adobe's own models "Commercially safe" and partner models separately, and Adobe says it shows when a partner model is in use, leaving it to you to judge whether that model suits a project.
Video and audio. The Firefly Video Model generates video clips, counted in 5-second units on the plans. Audio tools cover text-to-speech, music, sound effects, translation and AI dubbing, some through ElevenLabs. For dedicated video tools see Best AI Video Generator.
Content Credentials. Adobe co-founded the Content Authenticity Initiative, and Firefly output carries Content Credentials that say how it was made, which platforms such as Meta and LinkedIn can display.
Commercial safety and privacy
Adobe states that it has never trained Firefly on user content, does not mine the web for training data, pays Adobe Stock contributors, and claims no ownership of what you make. It says customer content is never used to train models from Adobe or its partners. IP indemnification is for enterprise customers and covers Adobe's Firefly models, which is why the partner models are labeled apart: Adobe's commercial-safety statement on its Firefly page is about "Adobe Firefly models", not every model in the app.
Adobe Firefly vs the alternatives
Adobe's own image models do not appear on the Arena text-to-image leaderboard (updated Nov 2, 2026, read Nov 6), so there is no independent blind-vote ranking to compare. Partner models such as GPT Image and Nano Banana, which Firefly also offers, ranked near the top there.
- GPT Image: ranked first on Arena in Nov 2026; free in ChatGPT, or inside Firefly on credits.
- Nano Banana: Google's editing model, free in Gemini, also inside Firefly.
- Midjourney: a stronger house style; its maker is being sued by Disney, Universal and Warner Bros. Discovery, the kind of risk Adobe's licensed-data claim speaks to.
- Leonardo AI and Recraft: Leonardo for a cheaper all-in-one creative app, Recraft for brand assets and vectors.
- Krea: another app that gathers many companies' models under one subscription.
